LAS IGLASTY [las iglasti] is Polish for coniferous forest. The duo, comprising of Natsuki Tanitame (b. 1999 in Osaka, Japan) and Krzysztof Zubek (b. 1999 in Poznan, Poland), explore improvised synth music and cassette recording on their debut releases 'the spirit of the forest" and MISTY LAKE. All of their pieces have been recorded live in one take, with the duo embracing instinctual decisions made in the moment to preserve meaning transmitted from their experience of being in the forest.

Born of a week in the Polish forest in the summer of 2025, 'the spirit of the forest' is an idiosyncratic statement piece from LAS IGLASTY, both angular and hazy, dream-like and visceral, pushing the listener to the edge of comfort yet evoking a deep sense of stillness, reflecting the sublime beauty of raw, natural environments.

The live recording was completed in one take, with the duo embracing instinctual decisions made in the moment to preserve meaning transmitted from the experience of being in the forest. Changes throughout happen spontaneously, almost unconsciously, but come together to form a cohesive whole; a communication from another perspective.

“Last summer we spent a week in a wooden house by a forest in Poland. We took a walk in the forest, swam in the lake, and breathed the clear air. Every night we picked fresh melissa and mint, and made them into tea before sleep.
One evening, half dreaming, one of us got a vision of floating above the forest."

"We made 'the spirit of the forest' a few months after that summer experience. Without too much thought, we recorded the sound in full in one take. Reflecting on it, we felt that the forest spoke through us."

Across the recording, the duo explore the full range of the frequency spectrum, stretching our listening capability, and simultaneously delivering an addictively raw and authentic sound. A balance of hazy, obscured elements reminiscent of memories or dreams contrast with a bright clarity and vitality effecting immediate sensory response.

"We feel that we transmitted the information given to us by the forest at that time. There is no message from us."

The piece will air on London's Voices Radio with Philippa Godsalve on April 10th 2026.

Accompanying the exclusive release of the piece on bandcamp, a full video made by the duo was released on March 27

MISTY LAKE, the debut album from LAS IGLASTY, is composed of live synth improvisations captured through cassette tape in one take, with the duo expressing their inner feelings, emotions and childhood memories through continuous sonic exploration. The album takes on a organic and raw tone, with hazy and dream-like sound objects emerging and melodies appearing and disintegrating throughout. With specific memories attached to each track, the album evokes a set of emotions relating to natural environments, the wild forest, and the misty lake. At once comforting and raw, each track permeates the listener with a different tone, taking them deeper into the world of LAS IGLASTY.

While the first single 'the sprit of the forest' was a direct message from the forest in Poland, these improvised pieces show the duo's inner feelings, emotions and their way of receiving nature.
